What Is Bitcoin-Classic?
Bitcoin-Classic (BTCC) is a decentralized digital currency rebuilt from Bitcoin Core v28.1. Its standout feature is lowering the barrier to mining — you don’t need expensive ASIC rigs or even a dedicated GPU. A regular home computer CPU can participate.

Vision: Let Everyone Mine
“Today almost everyone has heard of Bitcoin, but very few have actually obtained Bitcoin through mining.”
Bitcoin-Classic’s core idea is to restore the early Bitcoin mining experience. In 2009-2010, anyone with a home computer could mine Bitcoin. But with the rise of ASIC miners and industrial mining farms, solo mining has long been unprofitable.
BTCC tries to bring back that experience through lower difficulty, CPU-friendly mining, and a graphical interface.

Key Features
- Built-in GUI Miner — No command line needed. Download, install, click “Start Mining”.
- CPU-Friendly — Low network hashrate means regular CPUs can actually earn block rewards.
- Lightweight Wallet — Built-in wallet with real-time balance display.
- Block Explorer — https://explorer.bitcoin-classic.net/
Quick Start
11. Download Bitcoin-Classic-Setup.exe
2 → https://github.com/Marcus-Vane/Bitcoin-Classic/releases
3
42. Install to D: or E: drive (recommended)
5
63. Wait for blockchain sync on first launch
7
84. Click "Create a new wallet"
9
105. Click "Start Mining"
11
126. Switch to miner wallet (top-right) to view balance
Security Notes
⚠️ Always back up your wallet file (xxx.dat)
- The .dat file = your private key
- Never share it online
- Never send it to anyone
- It is the only proof of ownership
Comparison with Bitcoin
| Dimension | Bitcoin (BTC) | Bitcoin-Classic (BTCC) |
|---|---|---|
| Launch | 2009 | 2026 |
| Consensus | SHA-256 PoW | SHA-256 PoW |
| Supply | 21M | 21M |
| Initial Reward | 50 BTC | 50 BTCC |
| Mining Barrier | ASIC + cheap electricity | Home CPU |
| Network Hashrate | Extreme (EH/s) | Very low (CPU-viable) |
| Ecosystem | Mature (exchanges, DeFi) | Early (wallet + explorer) |
| Investment Value | High liquidity | Experimental |
Summary
Bitcoin-Classic is a highly educational and experiential project. It lets users with zero technical background actually “mine a block” and feel the achievement.
But it faces real challenges:
- Only 18 GitHub Stars (tiny community)
- No major exchange support
- Long-term sustainability uncertain
Best for:
- Tech enthusiasts learning blockchain fundamentals
- Nostalgic players who want the early Bitcoin vibe
- Students studying crypto and PoW consensus
⚠️ BTCC currently has near-zero market cap and liquidity. Do not invest significant funds or hashpower.
